Mouthwatering

Mouthwatering – Eating and drinking in the Middle Ages

From September 14, 218 to April 28, 2019

The Castle of Chillon offers you an exclusive installation on medieval tableware, the customs of the court of Savoy and in Chillon. The public will be able to discover there what were the recipes of Mestre Chiquart – cook of Amédée VIII of Savoy -, why the children drank wine and what kinds of food acted as markers of the three social strata: oratores, bellatores and laboratores. An exhibition catalog is on sale at the chateau boutique. A limited edition of medieval Cuvées, a white and a red (flavored wine-based drinks), as well as a beer without hops, the Cervoise de Chillon are also available in the shop. They were created for “Mouthwatering” from medieval recipes.
