Bottling our Clos de Chillon the old-fashioned way

On 14 September, Chillon Castle will be hosting an ‘ancient’ bottling event for the Clos de Chillon, in partnership with Henri Badoux Vins winery and the ‘Semaine du Goût.

What does that mean exactly?

Behind this slightly mysterious title, you’ll find a fun, hands-on activity where you can seal your own bottle of Clos de Chillon – our multi-award-winning white wine. Just grab a device known as a ‘corker’ and put your strength to the test as you transform a plain old bottle into your very own to take home!

Plus, this year, Chillon Castle Foundation is pulling out all the stops (not the corks…) with a delicious spread, put together by our very own Cultural Mediation department.

On the menu:

  • Bottling of the Clos de Chillon
  • Tasting sessions with winemaker Marjorie Bonvin
  • Guided tours of our vineyard
  • Guided tours on wine in the Middle Ages
  • Children’s workshops to awaken the senses (alcohol free, of course 👀)
  • Screenings along the way of Florian Burion’s film on the medieval history of wine at Chillon, with a chance to chat to the director

And to top it all off, the bottling is part of the ‘Semaine du Goût‘ or ‘Taste Week’.

Various artisans will be on site providing refreshments showcasing local produce.

To mark the occasion, Café Byron will be serving a vegetarian dish (mixed vegetables in durum wheat, barley and cabbage risotto, spelt with treviso and pear, and a spelt galette in a spiced tomato sauce).

So, are you in?

We’ll see you at Chillon very soon 😉
