Leah Linh – Fortunes and reflections in the era of Peter II of Savoy

From September 14, 2023 to June 12, 2024

The Swiss artist Leah Linh (*2000) has put Count Peter II of Savoy (1203-1268) in the spotlight. The Chillon Castle Foundation has commissioned the artist to create 12 exclusive works. From September 14, 12 unique representations in very different formats were enthroned in the heart of the fortress: painting, canvas, sculpture, installation, among other original media. The tour included Drako, the little castle dragon, specially designed for children. The exhibition “Leah Linh – Fortunes and Reflections in the era of Peter II of Savoy” ended on June 12, 2024.

Leah Linh‘s first gold leaf painting was the poster for the special exhibition of contemporary art. Through her bold gaze, the Vaudois artist illuminated facets of the life of the iconic prince in the history of Chillon Castle. Peter II of Savoy, who was nicknamed “Little Charlemagne”, ordered the strengthening of its defensive architecture. He was destined for an ecclesiastical career as a canon of Lausanne Cathedral and inherited the county after the death of his nephew. In this new role, he expanded the family territory phenomenally by entering into alliances and marriages. Peter II of Savoy also introduced administrative practices.
