Tickets and prices

Castle admission for individual visitors is 15.00 CHF for adults  and 7 CHF for children. You will find information on prices and various discounts here.

Yes, you can buy tickets online. You can buy tickets up to three months in advance here!

Tickets can be bought directly from Chillon Castle, online via our website or as part of our various partner offers.

No. You can buy your ticket upon arrival at Chillon Castle.

You can pay in Swiss francs, euros or American dollars.

Maestro, Postcard and Mastercard, American Express, JCB and Visa credit cards, as well as REKA traveller’s cheques (no banker’s cheques or traveller’s cheques) are accepted as forms of payment. We also accept Diner Club, unionPay, Alipay and TWINT.

You can explore the castle using our explanatory brochure in various languages (Arabic, Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, traditional Chinese and Ukrainian).

Guided tours are available in French, English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Japanese and Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin).

No, it is not collected or transmitted. At the time of the check, the application does not store any data in a central system or in the “COVID Certificate Check” application. In Switzerland, the light certificate, a function of the COVID Certificate application, can also be used. When the person holding the certificate activates it, a new QR code containing no health data is generated from the information in the standard COVID certificate. The light certificate contains only the surname, first name, date of birth and expiry date.

No. Guided tours must be booked at least two days in advance, by emailing info@chillon.ch or filling out our online form on our tour types section!

Guided tours last between 50 and 80 minutes, depending on the option you have selected.

Yes. Audioguides can be loaned for 6 CHF and there’s no need to book. They are available in French, German, English, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

You can also download the audioguide using the Chillon mobile app for 3 CHF.

As an exceptional heritage monument, Chillon Castle has around 300 items on display throughout. These are divided into three main categories: weapons and armour, chests, and archaeological objects.

The castle of Chillon™ is closed on 1 January and 25 December.
2024
November to February: Monday to Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm (last admission at 4 pm)
March: Monday to Sunday, 9:30 am to 6 pm (last admission at 5 pm)
April to September: Monday to Sunday, 9 am to 7 pm (last admission at 6 pm)
October: Monday to Sunday, 9:30 am to 6 pm (last admission at 5 pm)

No, they are no more mandatory. The measure of wearing a mask is removed as well as the respect of distances.

We recommend spending between 1 and 2 hours at the castle.

Small and medium lockers are available in the cafeteria. A deposit of 1 CHF is required to lock away your belongings (limited lockers).

Unfortunately, animals are not permitted on the castle grounds. There are kennels available by the Bazaar.

The castle is easy to get to by car, train, bus, boat or on foot.

Parking is available for 3 hours in front of Chillon Castle. You must collect a permit, available from the ticket office free of charge.

Chillon Castle’s Café Byron cafeteria right in front of the entrance is the perfect place for the visitors in need of a tasty pit-stop throughout the day

Chillon Castle  has also a small rest area with vending machines as well as a snack bar only open in fine weather.

Chillon Castle has two shops where you can buy some lovely keepsakes: the Boutique, inside the castle, which offers a wide range of books and toys, as well as must-have Chillon souvenirs; and the Bazaar, outside the castle, which offers in summer an assortment of tourist tokens as well as chocolate, ice cream and sweets.

Chillon Castle is not fully wheelchair accessible and is not suitable for prams (please bring a baby carrier). We have two audiovisual screens in the cafeteria which offer a virtual tour of the castle, as well as eight themed mini films.

No. Once you cross the drawbridge, smoking is no longer permitted.

You can use your camera anywhere in the castle. However, selfie sticks are not permitted within the castle, and drones cannot be flown over Chillon Castle grounds.

Events

Chillon Castle has a permanent exhibition, as well as temporary exhibitions, on both the site’s history and contemporary art relating to the castle and its surrounding landscape. See our current, previous and upcoming exhibitions here!

Chillon Castle organises around 40 events per year. You can find a list of all the events taking place at the castle here!

Certain events require a booking. This will always be stated on the event page.

Yes. Children aged 4 to 12 can celebrate their birthday at the castle on Wednesdays and Saturdays (booking required). There are four different themes to choose from. Each party includes 1 hour of entertainment plus refreshments in the heart of the castle. For further information, follow this link!

Banquets

Yes. We have three formal halls available for hire.

The Aula Magna, the Castellan’s Dining Hall and the Domus Clericorum can be hired. The castle is not available for private hire during public opening hours.

The halls can be booked for wedding receptions. However, don’t forget that the castle closes at midnight. The Chapel can only be used for wedding ceremonies and we cannot accept bookings for any ceremonies that are not offered by Aigle and Oron castles.

Circle of Friends and Drako Club

The Circle of Friends of Chillon helps boost the castle’s standing in the region, supports Chillon Castle Foundation with castle events and makes financial contributions to its projects.

Wine

The Chillon Castle Foundation has its own vineyard, located nearby, as well as 40 wine barrels stored in the cellars. Our wine – the Clos de Chillon, available in white and red – is made right here in the castle. For further details, see the link!

The Clos de Chillon is exclusive to Chillon Castle and can only be bought in the Boutique or the Bazaar. You can also order the wine online here or by emailing natsuka.huber@chillon.ch.
Our partner, Badoux Vins based in Aigle, produces another wine variety – Réserve de la Fondation. This is on sale at Badoux Vins and at the castle when the Clos de Chillon is out of stock.

We take bookings for various group wine-tasting tour packages, which include a guided tour of the castle followed by a Chillon wine-tasting session. For further information and prices, follow this link.
