The Alps: Chinese ink paintings

The Alps: Chinese ink paintings

From 14 June to 18 August 2013

Is it possible to bring a new perspective to our most emblematic landscapes, such as the Lavaux wine terraces and the Matterhorn? The Chinese painters whose forty-odd paintings are displayed in this exhibition say yes.

Their painting is rooted in the great traditions of the classical Middle Kingdom.

Having already been invited to Switzerland on two previous occasions by the Ink of China Foundation, these 12 outstanding major artists were influenced by the wild beauty of the Alpine landscapes. Last year their drawings and paintings were displayed at the Rong Bao Zhai Gallery in Beijing and were extremely well received. They are now on display for the enjoyment of Chillon Castle visitors. Discovery and re-discovery await!
