Video surveillance policy

Introduction

Chillon Castle Foundation uses video surveillance on Chillon Castle grounds both to deter, and protect our heritage against, vandalism, theft and trespassing. The areas covered by this video surveillance are clearly signposted.

In the event of any criminal wrongdoing, please note that, in accordance with the legislation in force, the images recorded by our video surveillance system may be used in criminal proceedings.

Technical specifications

Our video surveillance system is in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The cameras capture images, which are recorded and stored on a secure server. These images are not viewed live, only when an issue arises. Only authorised personnel can access these recordings, which are retained for a period of seven days. After this, they are automatically deleted, unless they are required for criminal proceedings.
