The exhibition "Leman zen - Transparency of elements" invites you to a silent meditation.
Barbara Erni is a great admirer of nature, the Leman could only be her favourite model. Her camera captures the watercolour quality of the lake.
Transparency and lighting set the tone for a soothing walk across the pictures.
Lake Leman (Lake Geneva) has many different faces.
Known for its tempestuous majesty and its flaming sunsets, it can either seem dark and powerful or mild and gentle.
Barbara Erni portrays a lake with expressions of serenity, caught in the middle of a conversation with the Alps, the clouds and the elements that surround it.
Barbara Erni is from Graubünden. She has been living in the lake Leman region for several years and used to work as a teacher and as a translator. Her artistic projects combine words and pictures. She has worked with Swiss authors such as Nicolas Bouvier and Etienne Barilier, with whom she created the book “Un train peut en cacher un autre - Zug um Zug”, celebrating railway journeys.
Barbara Erni is also a film-maker. Her documentary “Queens of the Alps” (2006) was selected for the film festival «NaturVision».
Her next movie will focus on the life of the Helvetia circus.
