Planning conservation and maintenance work presupposes identifying deterioration causes, establishing inventories as well as a five-year plan.
The causes behind the castle’s deteriorations are varied: natural damage, wear due to visitors, technological obsolescence, or operating modifications. The different deteriorations are inventoried, described in a database, and tracked on the castle maps.
The process continues according to the degree of urgency attributed to the deteriorations: either an urgent, exceptional intervention takes place, or a coherent, local construction project begins.
This method allows for financial estimates of the different construction works and maintenance campaigns to be established. Longer term planning is carried out thanks to five-year plans, allowing the Fondation to optimize the time devoted to the projects while taking into account their degree of urgency and the Fondation’s financial possibilities.
