With the help of the European Interreg funds, since 2010 it is possible for Chillon Castle to interface with the Castle of Ripaille in Thonon-les-Bains. Both monuments were principal residences on the shores of Lake Geneva of the House of Savoy in the Middle Ages. The aim is to develop exchanges between the two castles, todo joint communications for advertising and film-making, and to offer visitors of one castle a discount on the entrance fee for the other castle. On the Vaudois shore at Chillon a new hall would be dedicated to Count Peter the Great of Savoy (died 1268), while at Ripaille on the French shore a room would be dedicated to Duke Amédée VIII of Savoy (1383 – 1451), sovereigns whose reigns both coincided with the high point of these two castles.
