Become a member of Drako Club
Drako wants to get the young friends of the castle together at workshops and themed visits.
This current project will soon go live. You will soon be able to sign up and you will get all the information about this year’s upcoming events at the Castle of Chillon.
Educational workshop in partnership with Pro Patria
Chillon Castle and Pro Patria are offering workshops that allow children to have direct contact with our monument and its collections with an interactive approach, in a stimulating and learning-driven environment.
These Pro Patria educational workshops around the theme “Archaeology and Restoration” highlight the heritage trades and bring professionals and the younger public together.
Through the creative activities offered, children will discover Chillon Castle with a historian’s eyes or wearing the hat of an archaeologist or restorer.
These educational workshops will enable them to become familiar with the materials and specialised skills of former years.
WORKSHOP 1: Learn about wood with your own hands
Claude Veuillet will be present to share his knowledge and expertise of a truly noble material – wood. You will get to know the basic tools and make an original object.
WORKSHOP 2: Make a coat of mail
Jean-Daniel Pilet will be present to share his knowledge and expertise of a surprising material – iron. You will see and handle replicas of medieval armour, make links for a coat of mail and assemble them.
WORKSHOP 3: Discover and date graffiti of the Middle Ages
Historian and archaeologist Alain Besse will share his knowledge and expertise to discover ancient graffiti recently found in the castle. You will learn about techniques for dating them and making moulds of them while you go through nooks and crannies of the castle that are usually inaccessible to the public.
