Chillon: tours, détours, alentours

This new publication by Ariane Devanthéry, a historian of culture, is a broad-based collection of texts about Chillon Castle written by French authors. It's handy pocket-sized format includes 456 pages of extracts from literary works, correspondence, guides and so forth, some signed by writers such as Hugo, Flaubert, Mérimée, Ramus, Budry and many others.

Chillon and the wonderful era of posters

The image of Chillon Castle illustrates the history of posters in Switzerland very well. From the end of the 18th century it began to be circulated on a large scale, in particular thanks to Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Lord Byron. Catalog of the temporary exhibition (31.08 - 24.11.13).

Russian Anthology

This anthology presents texts by famous Russian travellers who visited the castle of Chillon in the 18th and 19th centuries – among them Karamzin, Gogol, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky and Tchaikovsky. In russian only!
